These 10 School Situation Cards have been designed to support children eliciting feelings and thinking about school when attending therapy sessions. These cards can also be used for assessment purposes. The aim of these cards is to support conversations in sessions. A number of school situations are drawn on the cards in a simple and black and white way so that the child can contribute to complete the pictures by adding colours, facial expressions on characters, pictures on wall and any additional features in the drawings. The therapist can elicit the child’s feelings and thinking about school by asking a range of open-ended questions provided with these cards. Adding the facial expressions on the characters consists of an important part of this activity. The cards are in gloss so these can be drawn on with a whiteboard marker. Alternatively these can be photocopied (for session purposes only) and coloured in together during the session whilst talking with the child.
